Using a Yamaha DX7 and two RevoX A77 tape recorders, Ambienti Coassiali coaX out a hypnagogic suite in siX parts, originally intended as the first of future volumes, but ultimately destined to be the series\u2019 only instalment until a Spare Rooms album crept out in 2017, 29 years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reissuing the original tape release in its entirety, this 30th\n anniversary edition is the first vinyl pressing of Vol.1 – Room 1-6, \ngiving a whole new wave of listeners a chance to bathe in the glorious, \ncreamy light of its lush, new age-oriented opening and closing stanzas, \nalong with some gorgeous, much subtler parts in between, from the \nfloating harmonic structures of Stanza 3 to the playful underwater jazz \nnotes of Stanza 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

built of five “rooms” (“stanze”<\/em>) through which listeners may wander \/ wonder freely yet meaningfully, as if in a dream. The entry point, “Room 1,” is perhaps the most affecting of these chambers, a deeply pacifying swell causing limbs to lift and eyelids to droop. “Room 3”, of similar length and depth (around the 11-minute mark) is bookended by shorter rooms of intrigue, though without complication, or even plot. This story is one of space rather than scenario, a setting rather than an action. One must simply allow themselves to be enveloped, though resisting the eXperience may not be possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the late 1980s, armed with nothing but a Yamaha DX7 and a RevoX A77 tape machine, the Italian ambient\/concr\u00e8te duo Capricorni Pneumatici <\/strong>produced this remarkable work of chillaXed FM synthesis under the name Ambienti Coassiali<\/strong>. This vinyl & DVD reissue makes this lush material available for the first time since the original cassette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1988, the members of the already challenging Italian eXperimental duo Capricorni Pneumatici<\/a> spun off on a new project that eXplored more dream-like territory. The side effort, called Ambienti Coassiali<\/a> (translation: CoaXial Environments), used the wonderful sounds of the Yamaha DX7, one of the first commercially available synthesizers, and a pair of tape machines to devise work that feels like floating in a jacuzzi bath. The warm water of their melodies soothe but small jets of chirping or thrumming keep you alert.
